Residents of Shamulzayi border district in Zabul province informed Afghanistan International that Pakistani border forces opened fire on Afghans attempting to cross the border illegally into Pakistan.
According to them, two individuals were killed, and four others were injured in the incident.
The Taliban has not yet commented on the matter. However, it has been reported that the victims of the incident have been transported to the Kandahar military hospital by the Taliban air forces.
On Monday, Shamulzayi residents told the Pashto section of Afghanistan International that those killed were from Ghor province. Additionally, two of the injured individuals were from Zabul province, while the identity of the other two remains unclear.
According to them, these individuals were trying to enter Pakistan through a side road near the border, seeking employment opportunities in the country.
Over the last two months, the Pakistani government has expelled nearly half a million Afghan immigrants, and imposed increased restrictions and detentions on those who remain in the country. Despite these measures, the migration of Afghans to Pakistan has not ceased.
Residents of Shamulzayi reported that smugglers in Zabul charge 25,000 rupees per person to help them cross into Pakistan.
